About me

Giorgia Castenetto,
freelance translator,
subtitler and script adaptor
As a child I dreamed. I dreamed a lot. I dreamed of having superpowers like Clark Kent, of becoming a professional volleyball player like Mila, or a forensic policewoman like Grissom. Once I even got the idea of becoming a director, because I enjoyed creating videos (and also because I dreamed of shooting super scary horror movies). At the age of 8 I created videos with Power Point, at 17 by shooting amateur shorts, at 22 by editing the pictures and videos of my holidays... But that wasn't my life's work. «Follow your dreams everywhere they are» (M. Jackson). That's the quote on a plate some friends gave me as a present. And without thinking twice I followed this exhortation, because dreams have always been my beacon. So I pursued them in England, where I attended an English course in order to pass the admission test to the University of interpreters and translators of Trieste. I pursued my dreams in Germany, where I worked in a translation company to take the first steps into the world of work. I pursued my dreams in Russia, where I wanted to discover a new culture. What is the common denominator? Foreign languages. It has always fascinated me to be able to communicate in a language other than Italian. After graduating with flying colours in 2017, I worked for two years in a manufacturing company as sales assistant for the foreign market. Among other things I dealt with commercial correspondence with foreign customers and the translation of price lists or user manuals and I also participated in national and international trade fairs. Until I decided to change course to seek new challenges and chase personal fulfillment. In the meantime, in fact, my never-ending passion for translation had led me to attend a master's degree in audiovisual translation. So, driven by the desire to combine my two great passions – languages and cinema – I moved out bag and baggage again. This time to Lombardy. There I worked for an audiovisual translation company, as well as a dubbing studio, as a trainee translator. This experience captivated me so much that I decided to continue working as a freelance translator. And this is why Scripts Manent was born. My areas of expertise are classic and SDH subtitling, script adaptation for dubbing, video game translation and website localization and I translate exclusively from English and German into Italian, my mother tongue, to be able to offer top-quality results.
Services
Scripts Manent offers audiovisual translation, classic and SDH subtitling and script adaptation services for any kind of footage, from the shortest video clip to the most elaborate feature film, from the most innovative corporate video to the most curious documentary.
In addition, I offer website localization and video game translation services, thanks to which you will be able to engage a wider audience and improve the user’s gaming and browsing experience. By doing so, you will have what it takes to improve your brand image and increase your sales.
In order to guarantee incisive and high-quality content, I will only translate and adapt texts into Italian, my mother tongue. Therefore, the language combinations currently available are English>Italian and German>Italian.
Subtitling
Subtitling is the best solution to make the content of your video accessible in any circumstance or when you want to preserve the originality of the work, but without giving up the message.
Subtitling
for the deaf
If "accessibility" is something you hold dear, then this is the service that suits you best. Thanks to the adoption of specific protocols, like speaker identification and sound description, SDH subtitling will make the content of your videos fully accessible also to deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers.
Script adaptation
The first step to take when you decide to dub a video is translating and adapting its dialogues, according to the kind of dubbing chosen. With this service you will always receive finished products, i.e. scripts ready to be sent to the dubbing studio for the recording phase.
Website localization
Website localization is the process of adapting a website into a different linguistic and cultural context, while still keeping a unique global brand image. By doing so, not only will you enhance the potential client’s browsing experience thanks to relevant and adequate content, but you will also improve consumer confidence in your brand.
Video game translation
Translation is one of the main stages in the preparation of video game software and hardware for sale in a new country and it requires specific knowledge to effectively address the different challenges that one might encounter in this context, such as the presence of tags and variables within the text, potential character limits and the call for transcreation.
Audiovisual translation
The audiovisual translation service consists in translating a screenplay, a film’s dialogue list, a transcription and so on, but without adapting it in subtitles or for the successive dubbing phase.
